W.A. Whistler
The genus Abutilon comprises 120 species (Mabberley 2017; Christenhusz 2017 cites ca. 135) of herbs, shrubs, and sometimes trees pantropical and subtropical in distribution. Fosberg & Sachet (1981) revised the genus in Polynesia. Six endemic species occurs in Polynesia—four in Hawai‘i, one in the Marquesas, and one in Samoa.
